We hope your summer is off to a great start!
Our gardens have been planted, and we are already outside almost every day, enjoying the beautiful weather on our front and back patios. We’ve even had the new grill out for burgers!
We have definitely been busy since our last update…
A few of us are sporting new ‘dos. Or fancy fingers. We have a few new faces, and some faces that have called River Pointe home for several years.
We continue to learn about our world through local history classes with Mark Peihl (Historical Society of Cass and Clay County), Wine Class with Anita Bender (Bridgeview Liquors), Book Club with Nicole Boewood (Moorhead Public Library), and even had the chance to create our own Health Care Directives with Deb Kukowski and her MSUM legal students – at no cost.
We continue to keep in touch with our neighbors through our faith leaders: Pastor Mark, Pastor Del, and Fathers Delaney and Kujawa; our volunteers Marilyn and Ringo, Donna, and Linda; Hope Blooms; and through our various intergenerational visits, with kids age preschool to college.
Many of our favorites have performed including Steve Kraushaar, Steve Worner, Jerry Jacobson, Music & More, The DeMasi Brothers, The Fladlands, and Jan Severson.
Some of our bigger events have included our annual Sweetheart’s Dinner, St. Patrick’s Day lunch, a day of pampering and a professional photo session in Riverton Suites, Easter Brunch, and a visit from Cat’s Cradle Shelter, set up by our Dining Assistant, Chelsie.
We’ve spent some time dining out at places like Red Lobster, Jay’s Barbecue, Space Aliens, Nicole’s Downtown, Sons of Norway; trying our luck at out at Shooting Star; and have continued our weekly Friday afternoon shopping outings. Activity Assistant Kevin has been a rockstar at getting residents involved, and making it feel like home. His weekly social hour, and trivia sessions are a huge hit.
Some of our upcoming events include:
- Father’s Day Cookout next Friday
- The Longest Day for the Alzheimer’s Association on Wednesday June 20th
- Music with Paul Fladland and Loy Larsen at 5:30 on June 28th
- Fraud Prevention for Seniors with Gary Johnson (Better Business Bureau) on July 24th
- And our annual Block Party on July 19th
Many other performers, visitors, and happenings will also be taking place in the coming months. Keep an eye on our Facebook page for the most up to date information (and pictures!), or give Anna Leeby a call with any questions 218-287-6900.
