Did you know June is Alzheimer’s and Brain Awareness Month?
During this important month, River Pointe will be hosting our annual Open House in Riverton Suites. On this fun day, we get together with family members, and our assisted living residents, to showcase just how welcoming this sometimes misunderstood community can be. This year, we will again be partnering with the Alzheimer’s Association, for their The Longest Day event.
Usually held on the Summer Solstice, “The Longest Day” symbolizes the long days faced by those affected by dementia. It is a great opportunity for communities to come together to raise awareness about this far-reaching disease, and do some fundraising for the amazing things the Alzheimer’s Association does in our community. River Pointe will be participating throughout the day with some of our resident’s favorite activities, and also with a Lemonade Stand Fundraiser from 2:30 to 4:30 PM in the Lobby. Grilling in Riverton Suites starts at 4:00 and goes until 6:00; and resident favorite, Steve Worner, will perform from 5:00 to 6:00. Check out these photos from past parties in 2016 and 2017!
On Saturday, September 8th, we will also be participating in The Walk to End Alzheimer’s. It is being held for the first time at the Civic Center in Downtown Fargo. River Pointe is excited to participate again in the Walk, and, for those that are interested, there will be a chance to register during our Longest Day event.
If you have any questions about these events, please reach out to Anna Leeby, Community Life Coordinator. If you have questions about Riverton Suites, or dementia in general, give our Director of Health Services, Ashley May (RN), a call. (218-287-6900)
We look forward to seeing you on June 20 and again on September 8! Keep an eye on our Facebook page for the most up to date information, and photos at River Pointe.
