A community is nothing without a fantastic staff.
Here are the people that make River Pointe of Moorhead a great place to live.
Carmen Escobar has been the Executive Director since December of 2013. Carmen has a bachelor’s degree from NDSU and earned her Master’s in Health Care Administration. Carmen has a long history of working with the elderly population, as she holds a true desire for changing lifestyles and meeting the needs of the residents. The best part about Carmen’s job is learning interesting facts about each resident and their family.
Carmen and her husband Brandon reside in Moorhead, with their two sons, Benjamin and Samuel. Carmen enjoys going to the lake, camping, and traveling. Carmen is a member of Good Shephard Lutheran Church of Moorhead, Fargo-Moorhead Chamber of Commerce, and volunteers on the committee for Northern Plains Conference on Aging and Disabilities.
Ashley May was raised in Park Rapids, MN and graduated from high school in 2007. She moved to Fargo in 2012 after graduating from nursing school at MSCTC Wadena. Ashley is currently set to graduate in May 2017 from Bemidji State University with a bachelor’s degree in nursing. She started a nursing career in pediatric home care, moved to an orthopedics floor and most recently worked as an Assisted Living Home Care Registered Nurse. Ashley greatly enjoys getting to know the residents and building relationships with them, and is excited to start her journey with River Pointe as the Director of Health Services.
Fun facts about Ashley are that she is very close with her family and she loves summers and spending time on the lake with family and friends. Ashley is a big country music fan and enjoys going to concerts (especially Luke Bryan, whom she has seen 4 times).
My name is Katie; I have been an LPN/Lead Care Manager at River Pointe of Moorhead since February 2014. I spend my days at River Pointe managing and setting up medications, following through with physician orders, managing resident charts, assessments, staffing, and scheduling.
My favorite part of my job is interacting and getting to know my residents. They are each unique in their own way which makes my job very rewarding. I graduated High School from Fargo South: Go Bruins! I completed my AAS nursing degree at MSCTC. I have been a nurse since 2003 with experience in ages from pediatric to geriatric.
A neat tid bit about me is that I was the youngest student to graduate in my nursing class. I spend my time outside of work hanging out with my daughter, Zoey, and my husband, Dale. We enjoy spending time at the lake, grilling out, being outside and shopping, well, Zoey and I do! We have one dog, Baxter and one cat, Dennis.
Wendy Geller is River Pointe’s Food Service Director. Wendy is originally from Devils Lake, ND and continued her education at MSCTC Culinary Arts Program. From that point, Wendy’s passion for food grew into a dream as she attended French Cordon Bleu Culinary School in Minneapolis MN. Wendy is the inspiration behind all of the food made for River Pointe residents. Each day Wendy develops menus, special diet recipes, and manages food service staff. Wendy enjoys creating new food ideas, food carvings and learning more about nutritional values.
Outside of work Wendy enjoys spending time with her French Bulldog Jersey and spending time at the lake. Interesting fact about Wendy is that she plays the saxophone, trumpet and enjoys trying different types of ethnic foods.
Sarah Smit joined River Pointe’s in the spring of 2018 as the Business Manager. Sarah has a Bachelor’s Degree from South Dakota State University. Sarah is passionate about helping seniors live their best life possible and enjoys the challenges that working with finances and human resources can bring.
Sarah and her two children have lived in the Fargo area since 2011. She enjoys music, baking, travelling, and spending time with her family. She is a die-hard Green Bay Packers fan which is challenging in Vikings country. GO PACK GO!

He is CompTIA, A+, and Network certified and has completed other minor certifications to associate with his career. He has had multiple roles in the IT field that range from server, desktop, networking, and laptop support. If something is broke he can fix it.
