“The River Pointe Leadership Team believes that when you recognize and treat employees as if they make a difference – they will.”
Burnout is an individual’s response to chronic emotional and interpersonal stressors within the work place. Burnout is not something that just comes from working too many hours. It can be caused by multiple factors in the work place.
Why is health care such a burnout career?
- job demands
- role conflict
- role ambiguity
- lack of appropriate resources
- lack of social support
- lack of feedback
- little participation in decision-making
Burnout can create:
- lower productivity
- ineffectiveness
- decrease in job satisfaction
- lower commitment to the organization/team
- interruption to the flow of the day
- job withdrawal
As you can see burnout can affect both our minds and bodies.
Working in health care can be a very demanding job, but in order for our residents to get the best care they deserve, we have implemented a few ways to help prevent burnout at River Pointe. The Leadership Team practices Pay it Forward events. A Pay it Forward is when the Leadership Team takes over working on the floor, and we send the staff to do something fun for the rest of, or part of, their shift.
River Pointe Caregiver Pay It Forward Events have included:
- Redhawk’s Game Tickets
- Lunch on River Pointe
- Fun, Team-Building Activities
- Paid Afternoon Off
- Complimentary River Pointe Apparel
- Free, Paid Massage Breaks (thank you, Kathy Fetting!)
- Personal Thank You cards mailed to their home
We know that burnout can be detrimental to our staff and residents. This is why River Pointe of Moorhead tries to provide a relaxed home-like atmosphere, and take extra care of our employees, so they can take extra care of our residents.
River Pointe is happy to have such an amazing team to care for the residents whom call this their home…thank you!!
“Always treat your employee, as you would want them to treat your best customer.”
