Our February was full of love and lots of fun. We hope yours was too.
Here’s a look back at the month that was…
We are so excited to welcome our new Director of Health Services, Ashley May (RN). Ashley is from Park Rapids, MN and comes to River Pointe with much experience working with seniors. Please visit our website to read more about Ashley, and all the members of our management team, or stop by and say hello!
Residents stayed active in February, despite the cold weather. We had shopping outings to the TJ Maxx Strip Mall, Hobby Lobby, Dollar Store, WalMart, and Walgreens. We also continued our Tuesday outing tradition, going out to Applebee’s, KFC (resident requested!), and Wild Bills in South Fargo.
Our Sweetheart’s Dinner was a HUGE hit for Valentine’s Day, and River Pointe’s first experiment with a 4 course meal. We gotta say – we’re definitely doing it again! The photo above is one of our Resident Assistants, Molly, and third floor resident (quite the character), Erwin. Click here for more pictures.
We continued our spirit of service and giving back by hosting another Project Linus blanket-making session, and making Valentines for Veterans on Valentine’s Day. Before that, we joined others in the Fargo-Moorhead community for Giving Hearts Day. Residents and Staff donated a total of $170 to 4 Luv of Dog Rescue, which was matched by River Pointe, and then went on to be matched by Dakota Medical Foundation. Read more about this fun day here.
Joyce won our monthly $10 gift card towards a February restaurant outing, and Kiana Ruch of MSUM started a chair yoga class on Tuesday mornings at 9:30. We’ve had great participation for this and the residents have really enjoyed this unique kind of exercise. All are welcome if you are interested in joining!
Another great addition to River Pointe has been a set of television screens to each floor outside of the elevators. These show our residents what is going on every day, what the weather is like outside, upcoming events, photos from activities, and what the dinner menu is for the day. They can be changed within minutes to reflect changes or provide an announcement. We have found that those with vision loss are able to see these screens much better than information written on paper.
Don’t forget to like our Facebook page to stay up to date on all the latest happenings at River Pointe. We have a lot coming up in March, including a Pub Crawl with Serenity Assisted Living in Moorhead! Stay tuned!
