We began the month visiting Maplewood State Park to see the changing leaves. After driving for a while, we stopped at the Muddy Moose in Pelican Rapids for lunch. We also had a day outing to the casino during the month of November, and went to Red Hen Taphouse and Mexican Village for supper outings.
Musical performances were given by Rick and Loretta, Chuck Fox, the Blue Moon Band, Hartford Street Brass Band, and the Depot Singers – they helped ease the pinch from flu shots on the 11th. These were provided by Medical Pharmacy in South Moorhead.
We continued our monthly activities of: Project Linus, Wine Class with Anita, History Talks with Mark, Pet Therapy with Ringo, and had several college volunteers continue their service at River Pointe. We had a few extra volunteers over Halloween. The Dilworth-Glyndon-Felton National Honor Society dressed up in Halloween costumes to play bingo with Riverton Suites residents, and the MSUM Psychology Club carved pumpkins to be distributed throughout the building.
Chef Jeff was such a fun addition to our Halloween festivities. Chef Wendy, our Food Services Director, brought in authentic Chef clothing to create this look. We got to visit Chef Jeff in the Scarecrow Garden at Trollwood before his big debut with families over the weekend. Thank you to Helen R, Dolores, Angie, and our staff for helping bring him to life.
We also had some very unique experiences in the month of November. Mayor Del Rae Williams came by for coffee and spent the afternoon talking with our residents. Later in the month, Hope Blooms donated enough bouquets for every resident – and then some! Thank you to Kelly, and her wonderful volunteers for this beautiful surprise.
Upcoming…
December is always a busy month, and this year is no different.
We will have outings to the St. John’s Bible Exhibit at the Hjemkomst center, and of course, at least one drive around town to see the Christmas lights. We will also go through Lindenwood Park’s Holiday Lights to see our light display, created by Director of Maintenance, Craig Burch.
Christmas performances are lined up with: Fargo North Orchestra, The Silver Follies, Ascension Lutheran Church, ZCello, the Moorhead High School Choir, and, for the first time, Leonard and Betty Wahl. Don’t forget to check out our vendor show on December 6th, and join us for steak and lobster on December 21st! (must RSVP to Lexie Bosh)
We hope you have a wonderful holiday season. Please let me (Anna!) know if you are interested in volunteering at River Pointe, or if you know of a group looking for a good caroling spot. We always appreciate guests. Don’t forget to check out our Facebook page and select “see first” under the “following” button, so you don’t miss a thing! Our photo album from Halloween can also be found there. It was a ghoulishly good time!
