On Monday, we will again host an intergenerational meetup we call, “Between Generations.”
This wonderful group of home-schooled children, visits River Pointe once a month with their families, and brings with them fun things to do, lots of love, and an opportunity for us to influence the future of our community.
We had a blast during our first meetup in January. We broke the ice with a scavenger hunt, pairing into teams and limiting the search area to our Glyndon Room. After each team shared their findings with the group, it was fun to watch conversation come about naturally, and everyone ended up playing games or just chatting for the rest of the afternoon.
With “Between Generations” we hope to create a caring environment, that allows a range of ages to connect and grow. Intergenerational activities have been shown to foster a variety of health benefits for all included, and positively affect overall well-being. As our program grows, it will give us an outlet to express creativity, learn new things, and remind everyone how interconnected our communities are. Each generation has so much to learn from the other.
On her way downstairs, one of the girls was overheard by a staff member expressing how much fun she had spending time at River Pointe. We want to thank these incredibly kind and warm families, for the time they have dedicated to us, and for choosing River Pointe for this fun idea.
